Dayot Upamecano: Solskjaer addresses club transfer rumours
Manchester United have reportedly made a decision when it comes to signing RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano in January. The Red Devils and Bayern Munich have both been linked with a move for the France international ahead of the transfer window reopening. He’s impressed over in Germany this term, helping his side to third in the Bundesliga table.
United have struggled at the back this season, conceding 17 goals from their first 11 matches of the campaign.
Harry Maguire has appeared jaded from a turbulent summer, while Victor Lindelof’s performance levels have dropped.
Axel Tuanzebe has impressed when called upon but the centre-back remains continuously struck by injuries - which can also be said for Eric Bailly.
With United conceding too many for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s liking, Upamecano has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford.
A horror show against the Red Devils in the Champions League aside, the France international has been in fine fettle this season - helping his side up to third in the Bundesliga table.
Yet The Athletic say United have cooled their interest in the defender, leaving Bayern free to secure a deal.

“This is the type of defender I think United need, he’s very different to Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof," Scholes told BT Sport.
“He absolutely loves one-vs-ones, he loves getting down that channel because he knows he’s gonna beat them.
“It’s very much the same as what Rio used to do, what Jaap Stam used to do.
“It frees the rest of the team to worry about attacking play, because you know you’ve got a centre-half who is going to defend and he’ll do it all day.”
Upamecano was coy on his future when quizzed on the matter earlier in the year.
