Chelsea: Lampard 'wants to sign Ben Chilwell' says pundit
In signing Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia is taking a giant gamble. The Brazil international is close to moving to Stamford Bridge, with the deal expected to go through after Sunday’s Champions League final. But with the Samba star approaching the twilight years of his career, the Blues may regret pursuing his signature.
Chelsea have already backed Frank Lampard on transfers this summer, with Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner both moving to Stamford Bridge from Ajax and RB Leipzig respectively.
But the Blues aren’t done there and want more reinforcements as they look to win the Premier League title.
Kai Havertz is Chelsea’s top transfer target, despite Bayer Leverkusen making it clear they’d only part ways with their prized asset for a gargantuan fee.
Leicester ace Ben Chilwell is also being eyed, with the Foxes primed to lose the England international this summer.
But, surprisingly, Chelsea are now close to signing Silva.
A deal that would take the Brazil international to west London is at an advanced stage and, as things stand, he’s poised to join after Sunday’s Champions League final.

He’s been a good asset for PSG in the Champions League this season and, as club captain, is expected to start against Bayern Munich in Sunday’s European final.
But Silva is no longer the player he once was and his 33 appearances across all competitions is his lowest since his arrival.
The Brazil international has struggled with injuries, too, and lost some of his speed throughout the course of the season.
And, when you play in the Premier League, pace is vital.
Silva has enough experience and knowledge to back himself. He feels that he’s still got enough left in the tank to benefit PSG - and Chelsea once his move goes through.
