Despite West Ham being embroiled in a relegation fight, Rice was one of the few players to shine for them.
Rice was an ever-present for the Hammers, playing every minute of the 2019-20 Premier League campaign.
And his performances caught the eye of several top clubs, who are looking to sign defensive midfielders.
Manchester United and Chelsea are understood to have the biggest interest in Rice, who is contracted to the London Stadium until 2024.

But for West Ham to improve and become a top-half team, keeping Rice is essential.
And the London club have made clear the 21-year-old is not for sale.
Speaking last month, Hammers boss David Moyes backed Rice to replace Mark Noble as captain and insisted it would take 'Bank of England' money to persuade them to let him go.

"I am confident he will be here because he is under contract, but whatever club you are at, even the biggest clubs sell their best players at the right value," said Moyes.
"My intention is not to sell Declan at all, my intention is to keep him.
"We can't stop other clubs making offers but I'm guessing you [the media] will speculate, but the truth is we have had no offers for anybody.
"He is a really good player and I see him helping us, I hope that he sees what we are trying to add which will make him excited about being at West Ham.
