Man United: Angel Gomes scores incredible goal for U23's
Chelsea have reportedly held productive talks with Angel Gomes' representatives in a bid to steal the talented teenager from under the noses of Premier League rivals Manchester United. Gomes burst onto the scene for United back in 2017 at just 16 years of age, becoming the first player born in the 2000s to appear in the English top flight.
There was plenty of expectation that Gomes would eventually go on to break into the first-team set up on a more regular basis at Old Trafford.
But the diminutive midfielder has found it tough to stake his claim on a regular basis, making just two Premier League appearances off the bench this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has still been keen to tie up the 19-year-old to a new contract.
Negotiations, however, have broken down in recent weeks with Solskjaer now conceding defeat in Gomes signing a new deal before his contract expires on Tuesday.
But the report suggests Chelsea look set to win the race for his signature having made a bigger contract offer than what United were prepared to do.
It is claimed Gomes turned down an offer worth £25,000 a week with bonuses to stay at United.
Hamburg, Valencia and Benfica are also said to have made contact with Gomes' representatives.
United have also agreed to extend Dean Henderson's loan to Sheffield United until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has impressed out on loan this season, keeping 11 clean sheets in 29 league appearances.
The Blades remain strong competitors for Solskjaer's side in the table with Chris Wilder's side just five points adrift in eighth.
For United, they can climb back above Wolves into fifth if they beat Brighton on Tuesday night.
But Tottenham will also be hoping to close the gap to their rivals when they take on Sheffield United on Thursday.
