Timo Werner wants to move to Liverpool according to reports, and the deal is likely to go ahead should two things happen. The German international appears to have already made a decision on a summer switch from RB Leipzig but may have to wait on a move in the aftermath of the coronavirus.
Liverpool are now beginning to step up their pursuit of Werner but understand there will be some difficulty in the deal given the extension of the season.
He has a release clause of £52million which will need to be activated by June 15.
Sky Sports report that Werner will become a Liverpool player if that fee is met and if Jurgen Klopp can convince Werner he will get regular playing time.
There has been some doubt as to whether the 23-year-old will be a regular started at Anfield.

That's something that Werner appears to have already put to bed during an interview in which he revealed his desire to improve.
“Yes I know that Liverpool is the best team in the moment in the world," he told Viasport.
"When you’re linked with the team, it makes me very proud.
“In case of that, it’s a pleasure, but I know that in Liverpool play a lot of good players and I have to improve myself to learn much more things to get on this level to play there.”

Liverpool are likely to shelve all transfer plans until after normality has resumed.
Jamie Carragher thinks the Reds need some cover for Andy Robertson, while highlighting the need for improvement in attack, particularly with the Africa Cup of Nations next January.
"I just think Liverpool need more than Divock Origi if one of the front three are out," he told Sky Sports.
"Hence why Liverpool have been linked with Timo Werner.

"I do actually think Liverpool do need to invest to keep them where they are.
"Certainly for me a strong understudy to Andy Robertson and I wouldn't say a big name striker but certainly someone who is going to come in and is really going to push that front three.
"I think they need to spend big and keep themselves ahead of the pack."
