Cristiano Ronaldo has been given the nod over Lionel Messi in the G.O.A.T debate… by Piers Morgan. The argument over which of the two present-day superstars reigns supreme is one that has divided football fans for a number of years.
The Portuguese has won five Ballon d’Or titles while the Argentine has collected six.
It is on the international stage where Ronaldo appears to have the edge, having inspired his country to Euro 2016 glory. Messi, famously, has never got his hands on an international title at senior level.

Pressed on how close he came to joining Arsenal, the Juventus superstar admitted: “Very close. One step. Seriously.
“It didn’t happen, but Arsenal, I appreciate what they did for me, especially Arsene Wenger. In football you never know where you are going to play, life is like that.
“But I appreciate Arsenal because it is a fantastic club and you support Arsenal. And now you support Juventus.”
Meanwhile, Messi has been tipped to follow in Ronaldo’s footsteps and try his luck elsewhere amid a row with Barcelona chief Eric Abidal.

ESPN pundit Gab Marcotti said: "I think things are going to become clear very soon.
"A possibility is that Messi says 'you know what? I've had enough here.' He's talked about wanting to end his career at Barcelona, but he's also said he doesn't want a contract for life. He could say he wants to go and try himself somewhere else like Cristiano did.
"I think this is a very, very remote possibility, there's probably a greater chance of Liverpool not winning the league this year. But, it's still a possibility, and leverage that Lionel Messi has over the club as they go into contract negotiations.
"Who knows what they'll talk about when they next sit down at the table?"
