Manchester United believe Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s personal relationship with Erling Haaland may see them win the transfer battle for the Red Bull Salzburg star, according to reports. The 19-year-old has struck 28 goals from 22 games this season.
Manchester United are hoping to beat RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund to the signing of Haaland when the transfer window reopens next month.
The Red Devils want the 19-year-old to add more ruthlessness to their attack, with Solskjaer unconvinced by the inconsistency of Anthony Martial.
And the Daily Mail say United are hoping the personal relationship between Haaland and Solskjaer will see them win the race for the player’s signature.
Haaland played under Solskjaer at Molde in Norway.
The Salzburg star has previously lauded the United boss, saying: "He has had a huge impact on my life, both as a person and as a trainer.

“But it has to be a good thing that they previously had a good relationship."
It was recently reported that Haaland was jetting into Manchester for talks.
But Solskjaer insisted that wasn’t the case and that the 19-year-old was only heading off on his Christmas holidays.
"I don't think he's en route here, to be fair - not through me, anyway," Solskjaer said.
