Celtic hero Scott Brown outlines why Livingston defeat could help Hoops title charge
Celtic captain Scott Brown has revealed why the 2-0 defeat to Livingston could help their Premiership title ambitions.
Celtic midfielder Scott Brown believes that the defeat to Livingston could provide a wake-up call in their quest to win a ninth consecutive league title in Scotland.
Rangers went two points clear of their Old Firm rivals with a 5-0 victory over Hamilton later in the day, but Brown is confident that he and his team-mates can come back stronger after the international break.
He said: “We always expect a reaction.
“It’s disappointing, especially going into the international break when you have a couple of weeks until your next game.
“But sometimes it’s good for you as well.
“We’ve had a wake-up call before when we’ve lost the lead during the season and we have then managed to bounce back.
“This team has that willingness to win games. It wasn’t our day, we didn’t perform as well as we can.
“But it’s a long season and we know we can do better.
“It was a hard day. Livi made it extremely difficult for us.
“They were very aggressive on the front foot and defended well.
“They are well organised and played really well. We didn’t play as well as we could have.
“We want to win every game. It’s not just these games, it’s every single game at home and away.
“For us coming here and dropping three points is disappointing.
“But it’s a long season and we need to make sure we get over that and play better in the next game.”
Next up for Celtic is the visit of Ross County on October 19 after the upcoming international break, with Neil Lennon knowing a response is needed.
He said: “We have to, at times, roll our sleeves up and do the nuts and bolts of the game more."
