Bolton Wanderers: Club ‘desperate’ for takeover says fan
Bolton Wanderers' administrators have given fans fresh hope that the Trotters will survive despite a recent takeover attempt falling through.
Joint administrator Paul Appleton has confirmed that they are still in talks over a deal which would save the club.
He issued an update on Tuesday morning, ahead of the 5pm deadline set by the EFL.
“Following my statement of yesterday morning, I am glad to report there is continuing dialogue between the parties whose positions will ultimately decide the fate of the club,” he said.
“Myself and my team will continue to do everything possible to facilitate a deal and we will work tirelessly to get this finalised for the club, fans, staff and wider community.
“The future of Bolton Wanderers is still in doubt but I have to believe there can be a positive outcome before today’s 5pm deadline set by the EFL."
Up to 150 jobs would be under threat if a takeover is not agreed upon and the club goes under.
One source at the club who wishes to remain unnamed told the BBC: “We are very worried at the prospect of the club being liquidated and we urge all parties involved to work together to get a deal to save us sorted.
"We are a founder member of the Football League and have a long and proud history in English football.
"For Bolton Wanderers to no longer exist is unthinkable."
Bolton were thumped 5-0 by Ipswich on Saturday, the same scoreline they lost to Tranmere the week before.
They sit 23rd in the League One table on -11 points, only Bury are worse off with -12.
