Newcastle boss Steve Bruce slams ‘blatant lies’ as he hits out at Michael Chopra claims
Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has slammed Michael Chopra’s “blatant lies” about training, after the former Magpies striker claimed he’d spoken to some of the players, and they claimed to not understand their jobs.
Some of this stuff out there is just nonsense; blatant lies

“The Chopra thing was blown out of all proportion,” said Bruce, speaking ahead of Newcastle’s match against Tottenham on Sunday (4.30pm).
“Some of this stuff out there is just nonsense; blatant lies. Some of the criticism has been relentless but I'll protect the players and keep my dignity.
“I'm just surprised that people take any attention of him. Some of the stuff is just fabricated and lies.
“When it's like that, you think why is that making national headlines - which is total rubbish.”

Bruce’s backlash came after Chopra claimed the players at Newcastle weren’t good enough, and that they needed stronger coaching.
They managed under Benitez because of his meticulous attention to detail in training regimes, he said.
Now, since Benitez left in the summer and was replaced by Bruce, the players don’t know what they’re meant to be doing.
Chopra told talkSPORT: “I’ve spoken to some senior players at the club – I won’t mention their names – and under Benitez everything was drilled into them on the training pitch; the team shape, how they were going to play – every day.
