Arsenal: Leaked footage shows Nicolas Pepe signing
Arsenal have won the race to sign the highly-rated Lille winger for an estimated fee of £72million.
The 24-year-old winger is set to break the Gunners’ transfer record when the deal goes through, but fans are confused as to why the announcement has stalled.
The club’s official website dropped a hint about the deal on Wednesday evening suggesting supporters won’t have to wait much longer to see the player’s status confirmed, in a message on their live blog.
Arsenal beat Angers on penalties after a 1-1 draw in France, with the employee hinting that a deal will be done in the “not-too-distant future”.
The post, accompanied by a wink emoji, read: “It's been a promising pre-season, with plenty of players catching the eye during our games in the United States, a couple of new additions joining the ranks recently...
“…and, who knows, maybe more will follow in the not-too-distant future.”
Pepe impressed in Ligue 1 last season to catch of eye of several European heavyweights.
The forward joined Lille for just £9m two years ago, and scored 22 goals and notched 11 assists in just 38 league appearances.

Another possible incoming deal at the Emirates is one for World Cup winning midfielder Sami Khedira.
The Juventus man has been outlined as surplus to requirements by Maurizio Sarri after Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Raboit joined on free-transfers, buy former Premier League goalkeeper Shaka Hislop does not think the German will prove successful.
“I don’t know why you would [take a chance on Khedira],” he told ESPN FC.
“Even if you could get Khedira for free, what’s he bringing to Arsenal at this point?
