Arsenal: Unai Emery gives Nicolas Pepe transfer update
Arsenal fans have been buoyed by the news that they have won the race to sign highly-rated Lille winger Nicolas Pepe for a fee of £72million.
The club were set to limited their transfer budget to just £40m after missing out on Champions League qualification but a change of heart from Gunners chiefs could lead to several incoming deals.
Unai Emery had shocked fans earlier this month when he promised that Arsenal were looking to complete several “expensive” deals, and Pepe could be the first in a late spending spree this summer.
The Spaniard has claimed: “We are working, the club, and also thinking about how we can improve.
“There are different players on the table with the possibility that we can achieve their signature.
“Pepe is a very good player and also we are thinking only of players who can really, really improve this squad and also give us some different conditions to improve.
“The same, we are working for the last few weeks and before starting the season in the first match in Newcastle.
“Our aim is to get the best team with the best players in our squad.”

The former Sevilla boss was left disappointed after he failed to secure a top-four finish in his first year as a Premier League manager.
Emery has urged himself and his players to push on this season and avoid making the same mistakes as last season.
The 47-year-old looks set to add both Pepe and World Cup winner Sami Khedira to his playing squad in the coming days, but Ray Parlour is desperate for a new defender to join.
“The worry for me has always been the defence,” Parlour said on talkSPORT.
