Wilfried Zaha hits out at 'sad and annoying' speculation as Arsenal consider bid
WILFRIED ZAHA has hit out at ‘sad and annoying’ comments surrounding his future amid transfer links to Arsenal.
Arsenal: £40million for Wilfried Zaha is a 'liberty' says pundit
Wilfried Zaha has made no secret of his desire to play European football next season rather than a possible relegation battle at Selhurst Park.
The Crystal Palace forward believes that he is ready to impress at Champions League level, with his brother confirming that he wants to do so with Arsenal.
Although Arsenal will be playing in the Europa League next season, Zaha supported the club as a youngster and feels it is now the right time to leave Palace, with the 26-year-old likely to have been annoyed by the £40million bid that the Eagles rejected last week.
In another transfer twist, the Ivory Coast international has taken to Twitter to hit back at speculation during a turbulent time in his career.
“Whatever happened to speaking facts?" Zaha questioned on Saturday.
“It’s sad and annoying how anyone will just open their mouth and speak on things or situations they know absolutely nothing about.”
The former England international is currently on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, and scored in the recent 4-1 group stage win over Namibia.
When rumours of his desire to join Arsenal started to spread in June, Judicael Zaha decided to speak on his brother’s behalf to Sky Sports.
He said: "Wilfried will always hold Crystal Palace and their fans in the highest regard and all the support they've given means the world to him.
"It’s my brother’s dream though, to play for Arsenal.
"Given all Wilfried has given to Palace to help them remain a PL club.
“I hope Palace will be able to see their way to agreeing a deal with Arsenal that allows Wilfried to realise his dream of playing European Football for the club he’s supported since childhood."
And the Palace star refused to rule a move out when quizzed by On Sport, saying: “I have no comment on it.
“The only thing that’s on my mind right now is trying to win this cup [Africa Cup of Nations].
When asked if he’d like to play for Arsenal, he replied: “I don’t know. We’ll see in the future.”
Palace are believed to want around £80m for their prized asset, with the Gunners considering their options before making a second offer.
