Alex Morgan: Women's World Cup prediction dropped by USA star before France vs South Korea
ALEX MORGAN is setting high expectations and says the USA will be the team to beat at the Women's World Cup ahead of this evening's opener between France and South Korea.
We’re always looking at making it to the final, and I think that’s part of our mentality

“When you’re a part of history, you just do what you need to do to put your best in a tournament,” she said, speaking ahead of the USA’s first match.
“Just given the history, we have always had great success in tournaments.
“So, of course, if you’re holding that number one ranking, and you come in eighth in a tournament, that’s not so great.
“For us, we’re always looking at making it to the final, and I think that’s part of our mentality.

“Regardless of the time in the game, we’re going to believe that we’re going to come up on top, and I think that’s instilled in us from the ‘99ers, and the past players.”
The first ever Women’s World Cup in 1999 was won by the USA, after beating China on penalties in front of 90,000 Californian fans.
USA are currently ranked the number one women’s national football team in the world, and are reigning World Cup champions.
But, there’s little to choose between the USA and France for this year’s competition.
