Man Utd transfer news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to complete signing of Ajax starlet
MANCHESTER UNITED are set to complete the signing of Ajax wonderkid Dillon Hoogewerf, it has been claimed.
Ajax: Dillon Hoogewerf confirmed to be leaving the club
The 16-year-old has been earmarked by Europe’s elite clubs after singing for the Ditch side’s Under-17 side.
Hoogewerf has netted 10 times as well as providing six assists for the youth side.
Now the Mirror claim United will complete the signing of the 16-year-old with the teenager deciding to exit Ajax.
The club's head of youth education, Said Ouaali, confirmed the youngster is leaving the Amsterdam outfit.
He said: “Dillon has indicated last week that he will leave the club.
“He is leaving for a foreign club. We wish him a lot of success and know that we have done everything to keep him.
“He may ultimately make the choice and choose a foreign adventure.”
Ajax have a rich history of creating stars of the future and Manchester United will hope Hoogewerf can continue that tradition for them.
Man Utd: Paul Pogba as captain is a ‘smart move’ claims Nicol
The Dutch side created a buzz this year in reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League with their youthful team.
And Hoogewerf may not be the only Ajax star to join United this summer.
Ajax captain Matthijs de Light, 19, is wanted by the Red Devils as well as Barcelona, Manchester City and Liverpool.
The Catalan club remain favourites to sign the central defender though.
They have already completed a deal for Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong for £67million.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to overhaul his side this summer after a disappointing sixth place finish in the Premier League this season.
The Red Devils manager is said to have handed a seven-man shortlist to the Glazer family.
Names such as Kalidou Koulibaly, Jadon Sancho and Sean Longstaff are said to be wanted by Solskjaer.
