Why Man Utd star Paul Pogba will NOT join Real Madrid as fresh claim emerges in Spain
MANCHESTER UNITED have been handed a boost in their plans to retain Paul Pogba, as Real Madrid are unwilling to make any new signings the highest-paid player at the club.
Pogba has enjoyed his best season at Manchester United, scoring 16 goals and laying on 11 assists in 42 appearances.
But despite finally establishing himself as one of the side's senior players, thanks to the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, rumours about his future continue to circulate.
While on international duty last month, the Frenchman said: "Like I've always said, Real Madrid is a dream for anyone.
But reports from Marca suggest Los Blancos will not be willing to meet Pogba's wage expectations.

It claims that the Spanish giants are open to signing Galacticos but only if the player "fits".
The report then delivered good news to United fans by claiming Sergio Ramos will remain the club's highest earner on £200,000 a week.
That in itself is a point of contention, however, as, without bonuses, several media outlets claim Gareth Bale takes home a weekly £350,000.
Nevertheless, it signifies the reticence Real Madrid have on signing big names, especially Pogba.

"Paul Pogba is also on Zidane's list, but the club don't share the enthusiasm for the World Cup winner," the article reads.
"They watch him closely, acknowledge his ability, but are sceptical of his ability to be really decisive, and the tie against Barcelona (which United lost 4-0 on aggregate) hasn't helped his cause.
"The starting point of negotiations for the Frenchman is €150million (£130m), which those at the Bernabeu think to be excessive, but Pogba and [his agent] Mino Raiola would be happy to make the move happen."
