There were five goals in the first 21 minutes.
Raheem Sterling starred for Manchester City as he netted twice to send the Premier League champions 3-2 up at half-time.
And Sergio Aguero netted in the second half to put them 4-3 up on aggregate.
But Fernando Llorente scored via his hip to level the tie and put Tottenham on the brink of going through on away goals.
But fans on social media were distracted by one thing, the commentary of BT Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas.
The former Spurs man was called out for what many perceived to be bias commentary.
One said: “Everyone chatting about carragher being bias in commentating for lfc, have any of you mandem heard Jenas? I’ve never heard such a bias guy towards a team lmao.”
Another added: “Its jenas that really gets me, so biased.”
“Can someone please take Jermaine Jenas’ Spurs kit off him,” a third explained.

A fourth said: “Anyone reckon Jermaine Jenas played for spurs?”
Another explained: “Wish Jermaine Jenas would just commit to being a Spurs fan rather than trying to correct himself every time he unintentionally says we. You aren't falling anyone into thinking you are unbiased.”
The winners of City vs Tottenham will take on Ajax in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The other match on the night sees Liverpool face Porto.
The Reds are 4-1 up on aggregate and look set to face Barcelona in the other semi-final tie.
City and Liverpool could meet in the final of the competition.
And the two sides are fighting it out for the Premier League title as well.
