“I think when Lacazette first came, I’ll be honest with you, I was thinking he’s not quite at elite level,” the Liverpool legend said on Sky Sports.
“And Wenger used to bring him off a lot and not play him in sort of the real big games.
“And you’re thinking ‘well he’s watching him every day, even though he spent £50m on him, he still doesn’t feel like he’s real top drawer’.
“But since Aubameyang’s come in, it seems that Lacazette has got even better.

“So I’m really impressed with him now.”
Lacazette has helped Arsenal to third in the Premier League table, scoring the second goal in the 2-0 win over Newcastle on Monday.
And the 27-year-old says there has been a big improvement in the atmosphere at the Emirates this season.
“I can feel the difference in the atmosphere from last season, now we can maybe go to the Champions League,” he told Sky Sports.
