Arsenal tried to sell Mesut Ozil
Arsenal tried to get Mesut Ozil off their books in January but couldn’t because of his high wages, reports in Italy claim.
It was reported that the likes of PSG and Juventus were interested in taking the German on loan, but no deal was struck.
Just over a year ago, Ozil signed a new contract that would see him become the club’s highest earner with wages of £350,000.
And Italian outlet Calciomercato say that Arsenal tried to sell Ozil in the January transfer window, but potential suitors were put off because of his wages.

Denis Suarez interest
AC Milan are looking to snatch Denis Saurez away from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The six-month loan deal that saw Suarez join Arsenal from Barcelona in January includes an option to make the deal permanent.
But should Unai Emery’s side not exercise that clause - another club is ready to swoop.
Italian publication Calciomercato claim AC Milan are interested in bringing Suarez to the San Siro having already made contact with his representatives in January.

What’s needed…
Former Arsenal centre-back Matt Upson says his old club need to sign defenders willing to stick their head in.
“The first port of call is to defend, to stick your head in and do the right things,” Upson said.
“It’s about recruitment as well. Arsenal need to go and recruit those players who are willing [to do that].
“The club haven’t had an appetite to go and get a player in who wants to defend."
Arsenal have conceded 37 goals this season in 26 games - four more than Newcastle who are only a place off the relegation zone.
