Manchester United blew Fulham away at Craven Cottage to propel themselves to fourth in the Premier League table - a position that appeared unlikely when Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as manager back in December.
The Red Devils were in control throughout, with Paul Pogba giving them an early lead.
Anthony Martial then channelled his inner Cristiano Ronaldo for Manchester United’s second, with Pogba adding a third from the penalty spot in the second half.
However, the victory will have showed Solskjaer cannot trust three players to start against PSG in midweek.
He appears a £75million misfit. Given a rare chance to impress in the No 9 role, the Belgium international failed to take it.
Lukaku’s physicality made him a key Mourinho asset but, under Solskjaer, he appears unsure of himself.
Sure, there was plenty of industrious running and intelligent link-up play.
But he offered little else and now looks primed to start the PSG showdown on the sibstutes bench.

Man United: Phil Jones 'knows what it takes' says Solskjaer
Similarly, Juan Mata doesn’t suit this United side.
Against Fulham, it was easy. Even Phil Jones was trying to score from around 30 yards at one point.
But Mata lacks the pace to trouble the best defences in the world.
PSG have bulldozers at the back in the form of Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Co.
And Mata will be unable to make an impact. United need pace - so Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are set to be his trident.
A third player United cannot trust to start is Alexis Sanchez.
