The eight-time Olympic gold medallist has hung up his boots following an eight-week trial with Australian side Central Coast Mariners which ended last November.
Bolt could not agree a contract with the club which sent him searching for a suitor once more, but the Jamaican has decided to now give up on his dream.
“It was fun while it lasted,” Bolt said.
“I don't want to say it wasn't dealt with properly, but I think we went about it not the way we should.
“And you learn your lesson, you live and you learn. It was a good experience.
“I really enjoyed just being in a team and it was different from track and field and it was fun while it lasted."
Bolt’s time with the A-League side succeeded training stints at Borussia Dortmund and Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset.
And it seemed as if Bolt would be able to make it in the A-League when he scored a brace in a pre-season friendly.
