Jose Mourinho reveals one problem in modern football
That is according to former Arsenal defender Martin Keown.
Mourinho was sacked one month ago by United following the side’s embarrassing 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward felt it was necessary after that result to relieve Mourinho of his duties, and appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in caretaker charge the following day.
It is believed Mourinho received a severance package worth £15million, and the 55-year-old appeared on television for the first time since his dismissal on Thursday, during beIN SPORTS’ coverage of the Asian Cup.
On the show, Mourinho slyly took aim at United, criticising the club’s structure and claiming that player power has become too strong in the modern game.
The former Chelsea manager struggled with the big personalities in his squad during the backend of his reign, particularly Paul Pogba, with whom he developed a fractious relationship.
Despite rewarding the World Cup winner with the captain’s armband at the start of this season, Mourinho eventually stripped Pogba of vice-captaincy duties after the Frenchman publicly criticised the team’s tactics, and limited him to a bench role by the end of his tenure.
Keown, who was managed by legendary Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger for seven years, believes Mourinho’s tough-love style is outdated, however, and he needs to learn from it before taking another job in management.

Until he accepts where it went wrong, he will not be successful again
Martin Keown
“By the end of his time at Manchester United, it looked like he had fallen out of love with the game,” Keown told MailOnline.
“Until he accepts where it went wrong, he will not be successful again.
“In his first spell at Chelsea, he nurtured Frank Lampard as if he was his own son.
“I did not see that same relationship at Old Trafford with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw.
