Man Utd news: The one thing ‘I loved’ United doing against Tottenham - Jamie Carragher
MANCHESTER UNITED interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken the fear out of his players - and it was evident against Tottenham on Sunday.
Man United vs Spurs: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reacts to 1-0 victory
That is according to Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has won his first six matches in charge of Manchester United since being appointed in December.
The Norwegian has brought smiles back to the faces of United players and fans with a more attractive style of football than previous boss Jose Mourinho.
And Carragher highlighted exactly that on Monday Night Football this week.
The brilliant thing I loved from Manchester United Sunday - it felt like the fear had gone
He claims the performance at Wembley against Tottenham on Sunday was much more fearless compared to other recent away matches at the Premier League top six.
United won the game 1-0 thanks to a fine Marcus Rashford goal in the first half.
And Carragher says Solskjaer has brought to an end a fear the United players have had for years.
“The brilliant thing I loved from Manchester United yesterday [Sunday] - it felt like the fear had gone from Manchester United,” he said.
“For three or four years now, doing this job, watching [Jose] Mourinho away in big games, Manchester United were terrified going into them, thinking they couldn’t compete with this team, these other top teams.
“What we saw constantly was them being terrified of what the opposition are going to do.
“How often did we speak and say ‘Man United are in a back six?’. This went on for years.
“We spoke about it with Gary Neville in the first year under Mourinho, he was convinced it would change when he got better players in - it didn’t change. This is still this season.
“At times they played like a small team in these big away games.”
United remain in sixth place in the Premier League table despite winning their last five league games.
But they are level on points with fifth-placed Arsenal and just six behind Chelsea in fourth.
