Man Utd news: Jim White reveals what he’s heard from training… not good for Romelu Lukaku
MANCHESTER UNITED interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear in training sessions Marcus Rashford is his number one striker, claims Jim White.
Solskjaer prefers Rashford to mobility of Lukaku claims pundit
Rashford has started all five of Solskjaer’s Premier League games in charge of Manchester United so far.
The England international has repaid the faith of his manager by scoring four goals in that time.
He netted the only goal in the 1-0 win over Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday.
And White claims he has heard the goal Rashford scored against Spurs was straight off the training ground.
They’ve been hitting Rashford on the diagonal over and over and over again in practice
Paul Pogba collected the ball on the halfway line and found Rashford with a long diagonal pass.
Twenty-one-year-old Rashford took it down and fired across Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris.
White says that situation has been constantly worked on by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since he became interim boss in December.
And he says it is clear Solskjaer prefers Rashford to Lukaku, with the Belgian yet to start a league game under the Norwegian.
“The Marcus Rashford goal yesterday came straight off the training pitch,” White said on talkSPORT.
“They’ve been hitting Rashford on the diagonal over and over and over again in practice.
“This is what I hear.
“They have been hitting Rashford on the diagonal time and time again in practice.
“That suggests Ole prefers Rashford to the mobility of Lukaku.”
Lukaku has found some form himself in recent weeks, scoring three goals in his last four appearances.
Two of them were off the bench against Bournemouth and Newcastle respectively.
United are back in action this Saturday when they host Brighton in the Premier League (3pm).
