Man Utd news: More than HALF of United squad are not good enough - brutal verdict
MANCHESTER UNITED are struggling this season because more than HALF of their squad are not good enough to play for the club.
That is the brutal verdict of Sky Sports pundit and former Celtic and Bayern Munich striker Alan McInally.
Manchester United currently sit 10th in the Premier League table heading into this weekend’s action.
Jose Mourinho’s side have also flattered to deceive in the Champions League, picking up four points from their opening three group games.
The Red Devils were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Derby last month.
The reality is, 60 per cent of these players are not good enough to play for Manchester United
Manager Mourinho is the favourite with the bookies to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job.
And McInally believes 60 per cent of the squad Mourinho has assembled are not up to scratch.
“I think there’s too many flaws in Manchester United,” the Scot said.
“I genuinely think the United fans are still going to games thinking ‘we can be this good, because these players are surely good because they’re playing for Manchester United’.
“But the reality is, 60 per cent of these players are not good enough to play for Manchester United.
“That’s why the results are very, very up and down.”
Soccer Saturday presenter Jeff Stelling then pressed McInally on his comment.
“Are they not good enough to play for Manchester United?” Stelling asked.
“Or are they simply not playing well enough at the moment for Manchester United?
After thinking about it for a couple of seconds, McInally backed his initial view.
“I’ll stand by they’re not good enough for Manchester United,” he concluded.
United are back in action on Sunday when Everton visit Old Trafford (4pm).
Marco Silva's side head into the match having won their last three Premier League games.
