Man Utd news: ‘He’s off’ - Luke Shaw to force team-mate out of United
MANCHESTER UNITED defender Marcos Rojo will leave the club because of the emergence of Luke Shaw as the first-choice left-back.
Rojo hasn't made an impact at Manchester United says expert
That is according to ESPN FC pundit and ex-Arsenal, Ipswich and England star Paul Mariner.
Rojo is yet to make an appearance for Manchester United this season.
The Argentina international has been struggling with injury and has not played a senior game since the 4-3 defeat to France at the World Cup in the summer.
Rojo was substituted at half time of the quarter-final defeat to the competition’s eventual winners.
Obviously he’s not fitting in, whether it’s at centre-half, whether it’s at left-back. Luke Shaw has come into his own there
The 28-year-old attempted a comeback for United’s under-23 side in September.
However, he limped off after 54 minutes of the match with Reading and has not been seen on the pitch since.
Rojo would struggle to break back into the United side if he was fit, with Shaw nailing down his spot after signing a new five-year contract.
Turkish side Fenerbahce have been linked with a January move for Rojo.
And Mariner believes that would be a good move for the versatile defender.
“He’s off somewhere,” Mariner said.
“Obviously he’s not fitting in, whether it’s at centre-half, whether it’s at left-back.
"Luke Shaw has come into his own there.
“No (I hadn’t forgotten he was at United), to be honest I thought he was injured.
“But he hasn’t made much of an impact has he? Let’s be frank.
“Defensively he dives in, he’s not ideal.
“I think this is a hit. I think he wants a fresh challenge.”
