The club subsequently brought in Arsenal youngster Armstrong Okoflex but the 16-year-old is unlikely to head straight into the first team.
And Boyd believes Rodgers' side panic bought in the latter stages of the transfer window.

"When you sell your best players, and have a queue at the door with others wanting out, then any manager would be twitchy," he added.
"Throw in the fact Rodgers hasn’t been able to sign the players he wants, then his frustration is growing by the minute.
"Youssouf Mulumbu is a decent player who was good for me at Kilmarnock last season. But you can’t tell me he’s been one of Rodgers’ targets from day one.
