Chelsea transfer news: Maurizio Sarri told to let striker leave the club
CHELSEA should allow Tammy Abraham to leave the club - and a move to Sampdoria would be ideal fit for the striker.
Stewart Robson: Sampdoria would suit Abraham perfectly
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson.
Abraham spent the entire of last season on loan at Swansea.
He made his England debut in November last year, starting the 0-0 friendly draw with Germany before coming on as a substitute against Brazil.
Abraham netted five times in his first 10 appearances for Swansea but his form fell away dramatically, scoring just three in his next 29 outings.
Sampdoria would suit him perfectly. That would be a hit for both player and club
Sampdoria are reportedly keen on signing the 20-year-old on loan and Robson says it would be a wise switch.
“It would be a good move for him,” Robson said.
“I saw him at Swansea last year. Did okay at the start then, just went off the boil.
“He’s quick, he’s got lots of energy. I’m still not sure about his technical quality.
“Sampdoria would suit him perfectly. That would be a hit for both player and club.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea legend John Terry is without a club after leaving Aston Villa at the end of last season.
The former England captain, 37, has been linked with a move to Sporting Lisbon.
But Robson does not think he would get into the Portuguese side’s team.
John Terry shows off supreme finishing ability during training
“John Terry, was at Aston Villa last year, they didn’t get promotion,” he said.
“He’s ageing, he’s not so athletic as he once was. He was never a great athlete, he’s still got a lot of experience.
“Sporting Lisbon, would he get in their team? I’m not sure he would.
“That would be a bad move for him I think and Sporting Lisbon. That’s a miss for me.”
Chelsea are back in action this evening when they host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge (5.30pm).
