COUNTRYFILE hit back at viewers who were left questioning the BBC show’s appointment of Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden.

The famed entrepreneur joined host John Craven as a judge for potential photographs for this year’s Countryfile calendar.
Deborah and John roamed the British countryside, taking stunning snaps on their travels and gleefully flaunting their pictures with viewers.
However, some critics were disgruntled with the calendar segment and didn’t hold back on Twitter.
“Will you say Deborah judges photo competition for nothing? Tell us here on #Countryfile,” snapped one, as another moaned: “Bit weird seeing Deborah Meaden on #countryfile.”

The cost of making the films for the calendar and competition comes from the programme budget
A third complained: “#Countryfile Not even half way through the year and they start plugging the calendar. Shoot me now please,” which was followed by: “It's #countryfile calendar time, that means you'll get 20 per cent less programme for your buck.”
One more asked: “So why does it cost over £9.00 when a newspaper gives similar away for free? @BBCCountryfile #countryfile.”
However, the BBC show defended not only Deborah’s position not the Countryfile panel, but the calendar which raised over £2 million for Children In Need.

Countryfile address Deborah Meaden complaint
“The cost of making the films for the calendar and competition comes from the programme budget, not from calendar sales,” the BBC assured on the official Countryfile Twitter page.
They added: “The BBC made nothing from it Tony, but we'll be telling you how much it raised for Children in Need at the end of the programme.”
Countryfile continues next Sunday at 7pm on BBC One.
