BBC Breakfast: Naga and Charlie joke about 'not having fun'

A BBC Breakfast host has shared his concern for an “upset” arrival, telling them they “don’t have to be here.”

The morning show returned to screens on Sunday (October 13) for another instalment. Ben Thompson and Rachel Burden were back at the helm, to discuss some of the biggest stories hitting the headlines on the famous red sofa.

Near the end of the show, the pair spoke to animal handler Stuart Phillips and his two detection dogs, Yo-yo and Scamp - who have bagged an animal equivalent of an OBE.

The dogs won the PDSA Order of Merit for their impressive ten-year career working with Trading Standards. The clever pooches have uncovered more than £30 million worth of illegal cigarette and tobacco.

However, during their chat with the pooches and their owner, the host halted things to share his concern over one of the dogs.

Ben said: “Little scamp here is shaking. Is he ok?” Stuart replied: “He’s fine yeah."

Rachel then assured him and said: “He doesn’t have to be up at the sofa if he wants to go down.” Ben added: “If he’s upset we can give him a bit of a break.”

Stuart explained: “He’s been retired for over a year now so he just prefers staying at home these days.” Rachel quipped: "And you've dragged him out on a Sunday morning!'

It comes after Naga Munchetty took a cheeky swipe at her co-stars live on air during Saturday’s episode (October 12).

After speaking to Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt, Naga’s co-host Charlie Stayt commented on how much fun the team appeared to be having on Saturday Kitchen.

He noted: "It always looks like they're having such fun there doesn't it?" as Naga added: "They do have fun there."

BBC Breakfast airs everyday from 6am on BBC One.
