BBC Breakfast: Jon Kay says weather giving 'dull autumn'

Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has spoken openly about her dog Hatchi and confessed, "he's a bit poorly".

The 31-year-old appeared on BBC Breakfast on Monday morning (October 7) to discuss her new single as well as her busy workload. Talking to presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay, Perrie shared her thoughts on what it is like being a solo artist as well as juggling her family commitments.

As the programme shared a number of images of Perrie with her son three-year-old son, Axel, Jon also pointed out that she also has her dog to look after too after seeing him appear in one of the photos on screen.

While listing all the amazing things she's doing, Perrie said: "And having a dog, yes! He's a bit poorly now little Hatchi. He's getting a bit old, he's got an awful cough."

As the presenters shared their disbelief, Perrie continued: "Yeah, so it's worrying me, Hatchi. I've had him for years!

"He's like twelve now and he's like my best friend." Sally then said: "Your other baby."

Nodding along, Perrie agreed and said: "My other baby. The furball that taught me how to be a mum. He taught me responsibilities so I think that was good."

Back in November 2012, Perrie & her ex-fiancé, Zayn Malik adopted male pup Hatchi who is a Pomeranian. However following the split, Perrie decided to keep him.

In 2021, the singer revealed that Hatchi had become more clingy since she and her partner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain welcomed their son, Axel. Sharing a snap of her dog online, the mother of one showed fans how she was smothered by her four-legged friend as he craved attention.

She captioned the pic: "For all you people who keep asking 'How's Hatchi since the baby arrived?'" She concluded with the word, "clingy".

As well as providing viewers with insight into her busy family life, Perrie was also asked whether she's still in contact with her Little Mix band members.

Although they are currently on a hiatus, Little Mix currently consists of Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie. Previous member Jesy Nelson decided to quit the group in 2020.

When opening up about her new solo single, You Go Your Way, Jon said: "I also guess it's about going your own from the band. How is it with you guys, you're all doing your own things, do you still keep in touch?"

Perrie replied: "Yes absolutely,£ she added: "Both of the girls have messaged me about You Go Your Way, they love the song and they posted about it. We still chat often."

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
