BBC Strictly's Claudia Winkleman calls out big blunder as Nikita Kuzmin left red-faced

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left in hysterics as professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin was called out by host Claudia Winkleman for making a huge blunder

Strictly: Nikita sings the wrong Shakira song

Sunday night's episode of Strictly Come Dancing saw an unexpected twist during its results show. As host Claudia Winkleman checked in with the celebs and their dance professionals for a sneak peek at next week's performances, she sparked a comical moment with pro Nikita Kuzmin and Olympian Sam Quek.

Claudia teased: "You've got a great song next week!" leading Nikita to proudly announce they'd be grooving to a Samba set to Shakira. His impromptu rendition of Hips Don't Lie mashed up with Whenever, Wherever had Claudia stepping in to correct him, saying: "Nikita, I love you so much but it was the other Shakira song..." leaving Nikita hilariously embarrassed as he covered his face, triggering laughter among everyone present.

Further fun ensued as Nikita fumbled with the real track intended for their routine, prompting even more giggles before Claudia again chimed in with a warm: "I love you..." and fellow stars jokingly apologised on behalf of Shakira. Responding to the jovial mishap, Claudia reassured everyone, "It's okay, she's super busy, that'll do!"

Viewers were in stitches after the hilarious blunder aired on Strictly, as they hurried to Twitter, now X, to share their amusement. Tweets flooded in with one viewer exclaiming: "Omfg I am absolutely CRYING at Nikita singing the wrong shakira song absolute SCENES in the Clauditorium tonight #Strictly", another chimed in with: "Not Nikita singing the wrong Shakira song #strictly", someone else flagged: "how did nikita get the wrong song #strictly", and yet another remarked: "So this results show isn't live and yet they left in Nikita's mistake about the song? ! That's cruel! #Strictly."

It comes after the opener for the themed-episode on Saturday night featured the professional dancers transformed into Minions from the Despicable Me franchise with Kai Widdrington dressed as Gru, the grouchy former supervillain and protagonist of the film series, while the other professionals donned yellow bodysuits to mimic the tiny henchmen, reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, the celebrities and their dance partners put on movie-inspired routines complete with incredible costumes. However, on Sunday, it sadly saw Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones leave the hit BBC One dance competition after finding themselves in the bottom two with Paul Merson and Karen Hauer.

Ahead of the weekend, DIY SOS star Nick Knowles and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk were due to perform the Charleston to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2 before Nick pulled out on Friday due to an injury.

It comes as last weekend Olympian Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova became the first pair to leave the competition.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday, October 12 at 18:20pm.
