Amanda Holden appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning to discuss the whopping 250-mile charity bike ride she is undertaking for Global's Make Some Noise charity.

Appearing from Bude, Cornwall, ahead of the huge journey to London, she shared an update on co-star Jamie Theakston, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Amanda began: "The good news with Jamie is [the cancer] was stage one and he's going to be absolutely fine!"

GMB host Susanna Reid had quizzed: "I imagine you'd be thinking about your co-host Jamie Theakston - he's going through his own challenge at the moment, he was diagnosed with stage 1 laryngeal cancer." She continued: "I'm sure he's supporting you. Is he going to be back working with you this month, as he had hoped to?"

Reassuring the nation that Jamie would be "fine", Amanda then added: "I think the biggest challenge he faces now is with a voice and a speech therapist to get his voice back." The star, who shares the Heart FM studio with her unwell pal, added: "We are keeping everything crossed that he'll be with us at least in November, I reckon, or for Christmas."

Amanda then playfully ribbed Jamie on air about never having taken part in the gruelling challenges that she often undertakes for charity.

Referring to her bike ride, she quipped: "He always used to sit in the studio doing none of this, so now he's sat at home doing none of this!"

She then emotionally declared: "We miss him so much."

Jamie had previously announced plans for surgery on his vocal cords to remove a lesion.

He explained on Instagram that he'd hoped to return in October, but was under doctors' orders to give his voice "a rest", so he'd be leaving fans in Amanda's "capable hands".

Amanda revealed on air: "He has told us that we have got to hold the fort and he has told us that the show must go on and absolutely that's what we're going to do."

Elsewhere on GMB, Amanda told of how she hoped to be part of a charity initiative that would raise "millions of pounds" this year for good causes, via her bike ride.

It's going to be arduous, but Amanda vowed: "No matter how sore my bum gets, I'll be thinking about those charities!"

Her banter with Ed Balls on the show raised a few complaints from viewers who branded him "creepy", while Amanda also introduced the nation to her new puppy, whom she joked was a "daughter replacement" now her eldest is off to university.
