Phillip Schofield's anticipated return to TV is a calculated gamble fuelled by his dwindling bank account, rather than any real desire to be back in the limelight, says a celebrity psychic.

Last year, the star was forced to retreat from the spotlight after admitting to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger ITV colleague. Now, the 62-year-old former ITV host is set to appear in Channel 5’s Cast Away, which sees him stranded on an island off Madagascar for 10 days.

In an Instagram post, Schofield shared his exciting news with followers on Wednesday, September 25, writing: "Now you know how I spent my summer! Alone for 10 days, no food, no water, no crew. My story of survival, both on a desert island and off it."

While Scofield admits he took on the opportunity to share his "side of the story" following the news of the scandal, psychic Inbaal Honigman argues that Phil might have had another motive to return to the screens.

She said: “For his time on Cast Away, the 10 of Pentacles Tarot card predicts no on-screen drama from the seasoned entertainer. The Pentacles are financial cards in the Tarot, and the 10 of Pentacles Tarot card is nicknamed Wealth.

“Phil is there for a paycheque, and he'll be treating the opportunity as a job. Every action he takes on the challenging show, is to be carefully monitored by himself and those around him, to ensure that nothing controversial takes place. Expect a polished performance.

“This Tarot card tells of a focus on the goal, by whatever means necessary, so there could even be a secret agreement between Phillip and the show's bosses, to ensure that he is seen in a flattering light, or even cut out parts which could reflect badly on him.

“For his days and weeks following the broadcasting of Cast Away, the Prince of Cups Tarot card shows that he'll still be focusing on rest and recovery. We're not likely to see him in a new TV job in the immediate aftermath, but he'll be popping up for short interviews here and there.

“This card is linked with the star sign Scorpio, which starts in late October, so Phil will be offered some small on-screen opportunities towards the end of October and most of November. This Tarot card shows a person who tries to create a supportive social circle and appears more confident than he is.

Before adding: “Even if Phil isn't quite ready for a comeback, his bank account is."
