Emmerdale viewers have been left in shock after it was revealed that Tom King is still alive.

The village vet, played by James Chase, has been tormenting his estranged wife Belle Dingle, portrayed by Eden Taylor-Draper, for months.

After finally confessing the truth to her family and ending things with Tom, Belle is desperate to escape his clutches. Earlier this week, Belle bravely decided to report Tom's abuse to the police after discovering hidden cameras in her cottage, evidence of his surveillance.

However, when Amelia Spencer, played by Daisy Campbell, found out about Belle's plan to go to the police, she tipped off Tom. In a chilling turn of events, Tom broke into the Dingle house, leaving Belle paralysed with fear.

In horrifying scenes, Tom attacked Belle, but she managed to spot an opportunity to flee, grabbing a nearby hunting rifle. Wicked Tom pursued her with an axe, reports Leeds Live.

Belle sought shelter in a shed, but Tom tracked her down and shockingly hacked down the door to gain entry. Meanwhile, back in the village, Belle's family - Sam Dingle (James Hooton), Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) - were horrified to learn from Amelia that Tom was at the house with Belle, and they rushed to her aid.

In an adrenaline-fueled showdown, viewers were left on the edge of their seats as Tom's latest antics saw him daring Belle to pull the trigger, only to be halted by the weapon's safety mechanism. The tension soared as Tom, while basking in his own seemingly invincible image, was unexpectedly stabbed with an axe.

The shocking turn of events during Friday's episode (September 27) had fans questioning if Belle might have accidentally ended her husband. However, the plot thickened when Sam and Vinny arrived to find no trace of Tom's body, setting the stage for a surprise twist that saw the notorious troublemaker stumble into the path of Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).

Social media was ablaze with reactions as one astonished fan took to X, which has replaced Twitter, exclaiming: "wtf how did he get the axe out of his back?? I knew he wasn't dead tho it would be too obvious an ending."

A second viewer chimed in, stating: "I knew it. He has more lives that a cat."
