BH: Expert gets excited as ring turns over a huge profit

Bargain Hunt expert Stephanie Connell was seen jumping for joy during Wednesday’s instalment of the BBC show.

The antique expert was tasked with helping sisters Natalie and Victoria find three items that would earn thema profit at auction.

In the end, they brought a vintage Yves Saint Laurent jacket, an old rustic bench and a Victorian ring set.

Before their items went under the hammer, host Danny Sebastian spoke to auctioneer Stuart Maule to get his thoughts.

Touching on the ring, which was set with garnets, Danny described the antique as a “lovely piece.”

Agreeing, Stuart replied: “I think it’s a brilliant piece. Jewellery is always really popular and it’s got quality, so that’ll help.”

Giving the ring an estimate of between £40 to £40, Stuart revealed there had already been a lot of pre-sale interest.

When the BBC host shared that the siblings bought it for a hefty £185, the auctioneer admitted that although it was a lot of money, it could make that and even possibly more.

The red team hit it off to a great start with both their items making a profit before it was time to see how much the ring would sell for.

Addressing the room, Stuart revealed: “I’ve got lots of interest in this, it’s really popular and as such, I can straight in at £200.”

Realising they had already made a profit on the piece, the sisters were in shock as their expert jumped in the air and clapped with enthusiasm.

As the bids continued to roll in, Stephanie yelled: “Come on!”

In the end, the ring ended up selling for a whopping £320, leaving the team speechless.
