Bad Monkey stars Meredith Hagner and Charlotte Lawrence have spilled on the show’s biggest twist so far as the black comedy series turns back the clocks in episode four.

At the end of episode three, the real owner of the arm fished out by tourists and delivered to washed-up former Florida Keys detective Andrew Yancy (played by Vince Vaughn) was finally revealed.

It turns out Rob Delaney wasn’t, in fact, playing Eve Stripling’s (Meredith) new boyfriend but her husband, Nick, who sawed off his own arm in order to fake his death and keep his shady business with Israel O’Peele (Zach Braff) from landing them behind bars.

Episode four, out today (August 28), revealed just how Eve and Nick’s criminal activities landed them in such hot water before Nick reunites with his daughter Caitlin (Charlotte).

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Meredith revealed what it was like working with Deadpool and Wolverine star Rob and also shed light on how Nick’s missing arm was achieved.

“I loved working with Rob, I’m a huge fan of his,” she shared.

“I think our dynamic, I hope, works and is funny, and he’s just one of the funniest people that I know while remaining grounded.”

Throughout the rest of the series, Rob had to wear a green sleeve on his arm, which was later removed in post-production to give the illusion of a missing limb.

“We had a few episodes before the green screen and then like anything it became casually, like, ‘There’s the green condom going on today!’ It was just part of the job. But he’s a really terrific actor.”

Meredith’s co-star Charlotte also confirmed Rob had to subtly change his performance to physically act like an amputee, even if visual effects were doing the most of the legwork.

“Reading the book is when I found out the big reveal, and I remember being in awe of it and loving it so much,” she said. “I thought it was such a great twist.

“I remember getting to watch the show and trying to be unbiased in a way because, obviously, we’ve seen it, we’ve acted in it, we’ve done the whole thing.

“But watching the show I also felt that it was such a great, fun reveal and it wasn’t easily guessable if you hadn’t read the book.

“Working with Rob was just phenomenal, Charlotte went on. “He’s so funny and he’s so kind and loving. He obviously plays my dad on the show but in real life he was also really nurturing and loving. It was a wonderful experience.

“The green arm condom is so funny because he has to swing it in a certain way.

“When you green screen it you can’t be moving all over the place, so it was a funny, random, swinging, loose green arm I guess. But yeah, you get used to it!”

Fans will have seen Rob playing the impossibly upbeat Peter Wisdom opposite Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool and Wolverine, but how dark will he get as the riveting new Apple TV+ drama plays out over the coming weeks?
