BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was left 'shaking in her shoes' after a tense row erupted on the red sofa between her co-hosts.

BBC Breakfast: Carol jokes she's 'shaking' in her shoes

BBC Breakfast viewers witnessed a moment of tension this morning as Jon Kay was cheekily reprimanded by his co-host, with weather presenter Carol Kirkwood confessing: "I'm shaking."

Jon found himself at the helm without his regular partner Sally Nugent, who had mysteriously vanished earlier in the week.

The atmosphere thickened during a chat about the Uffington White Horse, an iconic British site currently undergoing a "facelift" to uncover its historical secrets. However, when the landmark was dubbed "the old nag" Sarah Campbell didn't hesitate to call it "disrespectful".

Chiming in, Jon quipped: "Especially when the old nag's looking rather good, now! I'd like a makeover like that!" Caught off guard, Sarah quickly interjected: "Shall we move to Carol now?" while Jon joked: "I daren't. I daren't!"

Sarah playfully cautioned him: "Don't say anything! Morning Carol! " To which Carol, donning a pristine white outfit, admitted: "I'm shaking in my shoes this morning for a minute there," reports the Mirror.

Jon couldn't help but chuckle: "I think we all were!" as Carol burst into giggles evidently relieved she wasn't asked to weigh in on Jon's sharp look, complete with a light grey suit, a pink floral tie, and his signature specs.

Carol Kirkwood, the beloved BBC weather presenter, has recently experienced a few unsettling moments on air. During a light-hearted exchange about chess prodigies with Naga Munchetty, Carol was likened to a strategic player, always anticipating her next move.

Naga playfully remarked: "Do you know that I often think that for Carol, there's a game of chess played here every day, it's like you're always trying to anticipate the next move, aren't you Carol?"

To which Carol responded: "Yes, trying to work out what's going to come my way Naga."

Naga then quipped: "Exactly, always slightly unnerving, which is quite enjoyable sometimes!"

The conversation continued with Carol humorously commenting: "I'm standing here shaking in my shoes," and Naga teasingly replying: "No you're not!" acknowledging Carol's expertise in weather forecasting.

Later, as they returned to the topic of weather, Naga, who also presents on Radio 5 Live, prompted Carol to give an update, asking: "Gorgeous day behind you, from that picture but a mixed picture, is that fair?" Carol, ever the professional, agreed: "Absolutely, right" before presenting her daily weather summary.
