BBC fans were left divided after the judges sent home Janet during the latest episode of The Great British Sewing Bee. The remaining contestants fought it out against each other in Holiday Week.

The challenges included sewing a blouse from a recycled tablecloth, a holiday fashion fit for the French Riviera and a holiday transformation piece. Sadly, it wasn't to be Janet's week as she was sent packing at the end of the episode.

Some fans were left gutted by the decision and took to social media to complain. One person said: "We must protect Janet at all costs - I’d happily go on a ladies’ getaway to the Riviera with her and Val from Bake Off #SewingBee."

Another chimed in: "#SewingBee Noooooooooo. YOU meanies!!!!!!!!! Janet was awesome." A third person typed: " A bit sad to see Janet go though, she brought something quite exuberant to the show with lots of no f***s to give energy #SewingBee."

However, some fans thought that the judges made the correct decision. One person posted a comment saying: "Janet just doesn't follow the brief & just does her own thing #SewingBee."

Another person also agreed and said: "Janet thought she was better than she actually was #SewingBee." A third person also similarly wrote: "#SewingBee I think Janet much go tonight."

The coveted prize of Garment of the Week went to Ailsa who wowed the judges with her stunning palazzo pants. Meanwhile, other contestants such as Alex and Marcus also impressed the judges with their skills.

During the blouse challenge, there were two winners as Ailsa and Luke both left the judges gobsmacked with their impressive creations.

The transformation challenge saw the contestants being judged blind as they were tasked to create a holiday bag. They had to use ropes and other material in a creative way, with one fan favourite being the duck bag made by Pascha.

However, Alex's tote bag managed to steal the judge's hearts on the day. The judges were blown away how it was transformed into a tote bag and a rucksack, labelling it "clever."

The Great British Sewing Bee resumes on BBC One at 9pm on Tuesdays.
