Our Yorkshire Farm star Reuben Owen prepared to say goodbye on Thursday night after his Channel 5 series came to an end. To mark the end of Reuben’s second year in business, he and his pals Sarah and Tommy gathered at their local pub to reflect on the challenges and highlights of the last 12 months and toast the new year to come.

"Happy New Year everyone," Reuben began. "It didn't seem that long ago that we were here last year. So thought we would have a few tins to celebrate the year."

Speaking about the highs and lows from the past two years, the young farmer reflected: "I think the best day was when I was sat on that dozer at that castle."

"That was that big pond job we did," Tommy chimed in as Reuben went on: "The only injury sustained on that whole job was you getting savaged by a plague of locusts."

Tommy laughed as he added: "They were like wasps but bigger and they attacked me. One even went down my t-shirt." Reuben then turned to Sarah to ask her about her favourite moments from the year, to which she explained: "I think my favourite moment was learning to drive."

Reuben raised his glass and added: "Thank you very much, I couldn't be without you." He then went on to say: "I never expected it to have gone this well and if I had looked back two years ago we have gone from running two knackered old diggers to from year to year, I can't imagine what next year will be like but if it's like this one, it will be good.

"Tom and Sarah I couldn't have done it without them, we have had some fair old dos out of work, motor crossing with them at weekends, you can have a pint with them, they're a good bunch so yeah, looking forward to next year."

Elsewhere, the young farmer was hit with another emotional blow as the young entrepreneur feared his mate Tommy, who's been a key player in Reuben's excavation venture, might be on the verge of departure after acing his HGV exams.

Though Tommy reassured he wasn't planning an immediate exit, Reuben couldn't hide his dismay at the thought of potentially losing his right-hand man.

"Are we going to lose you any time soon then? " Reuben probed.

Tommy paused, then assured: "No, I wouldn't have thought so. I haven't even booked my test yet so it definitely won't be soon."

Reuben queried further: "When you pass, will you do a couple of days with me, a couple of days with Neil, or...?"

Tommy confirmed: "Yeah, I obviously want to drive a wagon but I'll still help you now and again."

Reuben accepted this with a "Grand job," while Sarah added her take: "If we have not got Tom around it's just going to be a bit more work for us, isn't it? ".

Reuben humorously quipped: "We will probably just get the same done, to be honest."

Tommy chuckled in response to Reuben's remark: "Yeah it will but we will see what happens when we get there."
