Fans of Good Morning Britain were treated to a nostalgic surprise on Friday as the show caught up with the twin actresses who famously played baby Emma on Friends.

As part of celebrating the iconic sitcom's 30th anniversary, GMB tracked down Noelle and Cali Sheldon, now both 22, who as expected looked unrecognisable from their time portraying Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) and Rachel Green's (Jennifer Aniston) on-screen daughter.

The Sheldon twins reflected on their unique connection to the series, saying: "It feels really cool getting to be part of a show that's older than we are, Friends has been part of pop culture and television history since we were babies, I'm really grateful for it."

They also speculated that if Emma were around today, she'd be 'the perfect mix' of her on-screen parents, combining Ross' academic side with Rachel's sense of fashion.

GMB host Richard Arnold shared after the chat that both twins have graduated from UCLA and are looking to work behind the camera rather than pursuing acting, reports the Mirror.

Recounting earlier details about their time on Friends, the sisters previously mentioned that they could not watch the show until they turned 13, confessing: "I don't remember anything about being on the show, but I've seen the pictures."

Their mother, Gretchen Carpenter, in an interview with Bustle, commented on the treatment her daughters received during filming: "Everyone was really, really nice to Noelle and Cali, and treated them like little princesses on the set."

Despite now stepping away from the limelight, the twins continued to grace the screen in both films and TV shows after Friends. Their final acting credit was in the 2019 thriller horror film Us, taking on the roles of Lindsey and Becca Tyler.

It comes as fans of the beloved TV show were left misty-eyed as the show paid tribute to late actor Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing, last month.

In a touching tribute to over 12.3 million followers on Instagram, the show’s official Instagram page marked what would have been Matthew’s 55th birthday last month. "On this day, we remember the light that was Matthew Perry," a caption on the post, which has over 544,000 likes, said.

Tributes flooded in through the comment section of the post, with a number of people saying they will miss Chandler Bing, Matthew’s character on Friends. “We gonna miss him forever and ever,” one person wrote.

Another, referencing one of Chandler’s catchphrases, said: “Could we miss him more??” Another wrote: “Our dearest Chan Chan Man”. It is the latest public tribute to the Friends funnyman, who was also known for his roles in the films 17 Again, Fools Rush In and The Whole Nine Yards.

Following his death in October 2023, the show released an Instagram post, which is still the pinned tweet on the account, that read: "We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry’s passing. He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans."

Matthew’s Friends co-stars Jennifer, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David and Matt LeBlanc released a joint statement following his passing last year. They said: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."

Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays at 6am on both ITV and ITV X.
