Coronation Street spoilers: Sinead Tinker heartbroken after devastating TWIST
CORONATION STREET aired a heartbreaking twist for Sinead Tinker tonight as the seamstress was told she had cervical cancer. However, as she is currently pregnant, Sinead has a big decision on her hands.
Corrie: Sinead breaks down as she is told to terminate her baby
Sinead (played by Katie McGlynn) broke down in tears as she was given her cervical cancer diagnosis on Coronation Street after weeks of worry.
As the doctor ran through her options, Sinead was told she would have to have a termination if she wanted any chance of getting the best treatment on the ITV soap.
Alone and afraid, Sinead was dealt another cruel blow as she was told the repercussions of the treatment she would have to endure.
One of these options was radiotherapy following a termination. However, because of the radiation, she would never be able to have children again.
I need to decide the treatment
Heartbroken by the news, the doctor then informed her if she waited until the end of her first trimester, her baby may be given a chance.
However, this would entail a less aggressive form of treatment which could put her own health in jeopardy.
With her cancer worries still very much a secret before she got her diagnosis, Sinead was filled with panic as she bumped into her father-in-law Ken Barlow (William Roache) in the hospital corridor.
Clearly upset by something, Ken quizzed Sinead, but the factory worker was adamant she didn’t want to tell him her news.
On her return home, Sinead gave into Ken’s questioning after he pushed her to tell her husband Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
After screaming at him not to tell his son, Sinead said: “I need to get my head around it. I need to decide the treatment.”
Ken then asked: “The treatment for what? Cancer?” after which Sinead told him the devastating news: “I’ve got cervical cancer.”
Daniel is still blissfully unaware of the situation, as he had been trying to secure a place on his Masters degree course at the local university.
With Sinead reluctant to tell anyone, will Ken take matters into his own hands and tell his son about Sinead’s cancer?
Also in tonight’s first visit to Coronation Street, Angie Appleton (Victoria Ekanoye) had a blind date with a man she had been talking to online.
After having marital problems with her husband Jude Appleton (Paddy Wallace) Angie tried to move on with her life as she ventured into the world of online dating.
Arriving at Speed Daal and apprehensive about meeting her mystery man, Angie was spurred on by her friend Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) to give the date a chance.
However, things took a disastrous turn as when her date went to pay for the bill, Angie took a quick glance at his phone.
She was horrified to discover her date had referred to her as “Big Butt Ange,” in his messages and told him in no uncertain terms he was out of order.
Unbeknown to her, Jude was behind her and saw her talking with her date. How will Jude react now he knows his wife is moving on?
Coronation Street continues tonight at 8.30pm on ITV.
