Video footage captures the moment Russian and Ukrainian armoured vehicles went head-to-head - leaving one billowing smoke.

Footage released by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence shows an American-made Bradley Fighting Vehicle engaging a Russian Infantry Fighting Vehicle at close range.

The video, seemingly taken from a drone overlooking the fighting, shows the two vehicles driving at each other on a road.

They pass each other, weapons blazing, with smoke pouring from the IFV.

The vehicle then pulls off the road and stops between several small buildings.

Posting the footage on X, formerly Twitter, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence said the Bradley was in the country's 47th Mechanised Brigade.

It also claimed the Russian vehicle had been "significantly" damaged in the clash.

It is not clear when the footage was filmed.

Introduced in 1981, the Bradley was developed as an American response to the Soviet Union's BMP vehicles.

Its main weapon is a 25mm chain gun, with a 7.62mm machine gun as a secondary weapon.

The USA has delivered 186 of the vehicles to Ukraine since April 2023 as the country continues to attempt to repel the Russian invasion.

As well as the USA and Ukraine, other countries that use Bradleys include Croatia, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.
