A family from America got a taste of British culture by venturing to Lidl, but it was the bakery section that really gave them something to chew over.

Tom and Jules, or "the Peachys" as they are known on TikTok, were nudged towards the esteemed Lidl Bakery for their latest outing, where they seemed utterly taken aback by the selection. However, they hit a snag when faced with the conundrum of how to properly eat scones.

Their TikTok clip, now having attracted over 29,000 views, shows the moment their little girl stepped foot into Lidl looking rather aw-struck. Jules confessed she now "finally gets the hype" surrounding the irresistible baked goodies that are available.

Jules said: "It didn't take long for Lina to start spotting some of her faves so, of course, we had to stock up. Then we just browsed the aisles looking for things that you guys have been suggesting in the comments like Yorkshire Tea, and different kinds of sweets and chocolate.

"There is pretty much never a dull moment with Lina, as she finds any excuse to be a wind-up. We've got stuff to try scones later today, but what I don't understand is am I supposed to put the cream or the jam first? Let me know in the comments."

The responses poured in by the hundreds, igniting fierce debate on the web about the ultimate technique on how to eat a scone. It's pretty easy to see that not everyone agrees on the best method.

One user advised: "Cream then jam. The jam sits on it better this way." Another insisted: "Clotted cream and then jam, as the cream is thicker so it just makes sense."

A third recommended a unique solution, posting: "Don't need to put cream or jam first. Put cream on one side and jam on the other then close it."

Conversely, another declared: "Jam then cream. So the cream sits on top rather than being speared together."

But, apart from the cream or jam first controversy, numerous fans were simply ecstatic that the family popped into Lidl. It was a visit many followers had really wanted them to experience.

The excitement didn't end there, as suggestions poured in urging them to hit the likes of M&S and B&M next. Social media enthusiasts are very invested in the Peachy family's trip to the UK and are eagerly awaiting their next stop.

On TikTok, the influencer household is known for visiting popular British shops and eateries and taking on various challenges. They really are embracing British life to the full.
