'I'm the Queen of Doomsday – I've spent £15k preparing my kids for WW3'

American mum Krystal has spent 10 years and more than £15,000 preparing her home and family in case of disaster - she's even training her kids.

A "doomsday prepper" mum has forked out more than £15,000 to ready her home and loved ones in case of catastrophes.

Krystal is convinced that, in light of current events such as the pandemic, global conflicts, and what she references as "unrest in the USA", it's impossible to be too prepared.

She has built up a stock of medical supplies, electrical goods, medical goods, food to last a whole year for her family, and material for protection. She has been building up her supplies for the last decade and has spent more than $20,000 (£15,284).

Explaining her plans during a recent appearance on YouTube's Truly V, Krystal said: "I prep for anything, whether the grid were to collapse and the power turns off, if there's another pandemic, civil war, civil unrest or World War Three. We always prepare for the worst case scenario and we always hope for the best case scenario."

Together with her husband Derek, with whom she shares 15 years of marriage, they parent a 12-year old daughter, an 11-year-old daughter, and a seven-year-old son. Having learnt to cultivate her own food from her grandad and food preservation from her grandma, Krystal is now passing on the prepping mantle to her kid. She also shares how-to survival guides social media.

On TikTok, where she's dubbed 'The Queen of Doomsday', Krystal has garnered upwards of 2.5 million likes. Her immediate aim is to gather enough supplies for five years of survival, and her subsequent goal is to go "completely off grid". She harvests vegetables from her garden and stores them in jars.

She clarified that she keeps her everyday pantry separate from her emergency provisions, and if she ever dips into her 'Doomsday' kit, she promptly replenishes it. Krystal said her three children - Lilah, Kaylie and Colton - "love" and "thrive" knowing what to do in the event of an emergency. The mum insists that her prep isn't all "doom and gloom."

Krystal added: "Civil unrest is one of the many reasons we prep. Here in the USA we've seen riots and protests increase overtime and it's just not something that we want to put our family in or around.

"My husband always thought it was a little extreme," she added. Derek said: "My opinion changed around the pandemic - seeing the chaos. This is a skill that we need to pass down to our kids, colleagues, friends etc."

Krystal's vigilant efforts have won praise across social media. One YouTube user commended: "This is called adulting. We all need to do a bit of this."

"She's the most sane and wisest person," declared another supporter. Meanwhile, someone else noted: "It's quite impressive, as long as they don't turn it into obsession and still have time to live in the present moment without worrying too much about the future."
