Tesco, Asda and Lidl issue 'do not eat' warnings due to contamination concerns

The Food Standards Agency has issued warnings over a range of popular food items in recent weeks, with shoppers being urged not to consume them.

UK supermarkets and high street shops have issued recalls for several products amid concerns they may be unsafe for consumption.

The Food Standards Agency has been alerting consumers about a variety of popular food items in recent weeks, advising shoppers not to eat them. Instead, customers should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Some items are being removed from shelves due to unlisted ingredients, while others may contain small pieces of metal or 'foreign bodies'. Here is a comprehensive list of items that should be returned to retailers.

Meat

The Isle of Wight Meat Company is recalling several Isle of Wight Meat Co Biltong products as they were produced without the necessary approval, rendering them unsafe to eat. The product details are:

The FSA issued a stark warning: "If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, please take a photograph of the packets, destroy them and email orders@chevertonfarm.co.uk with the photograph for a full refund. Bread rolls

In a separate alert, Johnston Mooney & O'Brien is recalling an array of baked goods due to the potential presence of small metal fragments, rendering products sold in Tesco, Asda, Lidl, and Sainsbury's unsafe for consumption, as reported by Lancashire Live.

Brennans has issued a statement saying there is a "very small risk" that some of their products may contain "small pieces of metal". The bakery has advised customers not to consume these products, adding that "no other products are affected".

"Brennans apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety," the bakery stated.

Lidl also issued a statement: "If you have purchased these products do not consume them. Instead, please return the product to a Lidl store for a full refund, with or without a receipt." It added: "Lidl wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Syrup

In another case, Leo's Import Export & Trading Ltd is recalling Buram Nuts in Syrup due to potential foreign bodies. The FSA warned that the product also contains apricot kernels which can release hydrogen cyanide when consumed, making the product unsafe to eat.

The recall of this product has been updated due to the risk of hydrogen cyanide release from the apricot kernels and now includes all best before dates. The details are:

Buram Cerezli Nuts in Syrup

  • Pack size: 420g.
  • Best before: All date codes.

The FSA advised: "If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund or to Leo's Import Export & Trading Ltd for a full refund."

An urgent recall has been issued for Harvey Nichols Lustrous Hazelnuts in Dark Chocolate due to undeclared milk constituents, posing a health risk for those with allergies or intolerance. The products are:
