A woman has gone viral on TikTok after unearthing a photograph of her great-great-great-great grandmother, to whom she bears an uncanny resemblance.

Lindsay Bullis was delving into her family history online when she stumbled upon a picture of a woman who shared the "same face" as her. The 28-year old was immediately struck by the similarity between herself and Mary Beckwith - her fourth grandmother on her father's side, who lived from 1805 to 1873.

In a video, Lindsay compared photos of herself with some of Mary, and the clip garnered more than 4.6 million views on TikTok. Lindsay's striking observation also prompted users of the platform to joke that she must be a time traveller. "I thought the resemblance was shocking," Lindsay admitted.

She continued to What's The Jam: "I found the picture on Ancestry when I was looking for my family members on my paternal side. I know her name is Mary Beckwith and I was able to find out she was born in New York and died in Wisconsin and she had one son.

"Her husband, Abraham Bullis, was a surgeon in the Civil War but that's all I really know about her. I feel like I have a special connection with her."

Lindsay, who is from Wisconsin herself, posted the clip alongside the image of Mary, showcasing their remarkable likeness. "Found a pic of my 4th great grandma and I have her face," she captioned the post.

It soon sparked a flurry of comments from other TikTok users, with one exclaiming: "GIRL THAT'S YOU! Welcome back!" Another concurred: "You are her." A third chimed in in shock: "Omg you look exactly like her! It's uncanny." While a fourth speculated: "I don't buy it. You are a time traveller."

In a somewhat eerie twist, someone else suggested: "They say you reincarnate into the same families." A second concurred, adding to the spectral discussion: "This screams reincarnation like you honestly can't deny it's scary. You are her!"

And agreeing with the resemblance, a fellow commenter remarked: "Her soul needed to come back and here you are!"
