BREXIT BLOCK: Leo Varadkar says US-Canada style border CANNOT be applied in Ireland
IRISH Premier Leo Varadkar has rejected Theresa May’s suggestion of a US-Canada style border for Ireland and ruled out three-way talks between the UK, Ireland and EU.

The Taoiseach said it did not provide an example of how to resolve the future border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Speaking last night, the 39-year-old said: "That is definitely not a solution that we can possibly entertain.”
He said having visited the US-Canada border last summer it was clear it was a hard border with visible infrastructure and customs posts.
Mr Varadkar also ruled out formal talks between the UK, Ireland and EU to look at Mrs May’s Brexit offer, claiming it was not in Ireland’s best interests to take part in such talks and it was up to Downing Street to produce more detailed proposals.

He said: "There won't be tripartite or three-way talks.
"What will happen is that there will be talks between the EU 27 and the UK, and Ireland is part of the EU 27 and we're much stronger by the way as one of 27."

During her speech, she rejected EU proposals to bee Northern Ireland in an elections customs union with the EU as a fallback option.
“Indeed, we are looking at those, including for example the border between the United States and Canada.”
In the Commons, she added: “As Prime Minister, I am not going to let our departure from the EU do anything to set back the historic progress made in Northern Ireland.
“Nor will I allow anything that would damage the integrity of our precious union.”
