Sainsbury’s hands customers £1,500 in vouchers to spend at 100 retailers
The supermarket chain is rewarding customers with an exclusive freebie.

Sainsbury’s is handing customers who are signed up to its energy scheme up to £1,500 in vouchers to spend at more than 100 retailers as part of an exclusive reward. The supermarket chain says its Sainsbury’s Energy customers not only benefit from exclusive discounts on home energy upgrades and can bag up to triple Nectar points on their shopping, but they’ll also be rewarded with “multiple” £30 vouchers every time they refer a friend.
The rewards scheme allows existing customers and their friends to get a £30 voucher each, which can be spent at more than 100 retailers, and it’s possible to earn multiple £30 rewards up to a maximum of £1,500 in a year for successful referrals. The scheme works by simply sharing your Sainsbury’s Energy referral link to a friend and once they have switched their energy supply to the supermarket, they will receive a £30 voucher. Sainsbury’s will also give you a £30 voucher to say thank you for each friend who successfully switches.

Through the referral scheme, customers can earn multiple £30 vouchers up to a maximum of £1,500 in a 12-month period.
The vouchers will be sent around four weeks after a customer’s friend has signed up to Sainsbury’s Energy and paid their first Direct Debit.
Sainsbury’s said: “Once you’ve signed up to Sainsbury’s Energy, you’ll be invited to join our new Refer a Friend scheme. You’ll get a unique link to share with friends, so if someone signs up through your link and pays their first Direct Debit, you both get a £30 voucher to spend with over 100 retailers.
“You can earn multiple £30 vouchers, but there are some limits to keep things fair. You can't receive more than five rewards in any 24-hour period, 25 rewards in a 12-month period, or £1,500 worth of rewards in total over 12 months.”
The vouchers will be in the form of a reward code for a high street voucher sent via email which will remain valid for 12 months and can be redeemed in one of over 100 different retailers. Alternatively, customers can get £30 credit on their Sainsbury’s Energy account instead.
Sainsbury’s added: “Rewards will be made available to the Referrer and the Referee once the Referee’s Energy supply is live with Us and their first month's Direct Debit has been successful. This is usually within 4 weeks from the switch being initiated.
"Once the conditions set out [above] are satisfied, the Referrer and the Referee will receive one of the following:
a) A reward code to exchange for a high street voucher sent to their email address registered with Us; or
b) a credit on their Energy account with Us.
“We reserve the right to determine, at Our absolute discretion, how the Reward will be delivered (i.e. as a voucher or a credit on the Energy account), which will be indicated in the Refer a Friend Scheme marketing.
“Once the Referee’s Energy is supplied by Us, they will be able to participate in the Refer a Friend Scheme as a Referrer and will receive their own Referral Link.”
