A drug dealer was caught red-handed during a police visit while he was sitting on the toilet. Tobe Ojukwe tried to flush his stash away as he was caught perched on the toilet by Nottinghamshire Police, which had obtained a warrant to visit a property at Stockwell Court, Mansfield, on June 6, 2024.

As the 29-year-old was apprehended, police found a bag containing 94 wraps of heroin and 37 wraps of crack cocaine floating at the top of the toilet bowl. Ojukwe had already been under investigation for drug dealing following a car stop in August the previous year.

Officers had pursued the 29-year-old to Padley Hill, Mansfield, after intelligence suggested he was uninsured on the car.

Once a search of the vehicle took place, he was caught with more than £450 worth of crack cocaine and heroin. Police also seized mobile phones and cash.

Officers uncovered damning evidence during a phone search when they found text messages detailing his drug supply. In one text, he discussed how risky the "drug business" was.

Police said he was left with no choice but to plead guilty to six counts of possession with the intent to supply Class A drugs.

Ojukwe, of Froghopper Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield, was jailed for six years and six months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on March 31.

PC Dean Fenton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said other criminals would be dealt similar consequences to the "persistent" offender.

He said: “Ojukwe is a persistent criminal who tried and failed twice to outsmart the police as the inevitable consequences of his trade caught up with him.

“Illegal drugs are a blight on our communities and we are committed to taking dealers like Ojukwe off of our streets. If people are dealing drugs in our community, they can be assured that they too can expect to come face to face with us.”
